What can you do to help?

Why your support matters

Menstruation is a basic aspect of human biology. Society has taken this component of a woman's identity and stigmatized it, turning it into a topic of shame. Many cultures and religions around the world openly discriminate against menstruating women, implementing practices that perpetuate the idea of women being impure, unhygienic, or unclean while on their menstrual cycles. One example of this is seen in Nepal. Girls are banished to illegalized sheds called "chhaupadi" while menstruating. In India, menstruating women are often excluded from social and religious events. Another example is seen in Jewish family rituals which forbid menstruating women from coming in physical contact with their husbands until they participate in a Jewish bath ritual. Far too many people share a negative and harmful mindset about menstruation. As a result, women deal with exclusion and discrimination. By raising awareness about period poverty, we hope to eradicate the taboo surrounding the topic of menstruation.
Another issue relating to menstruation is the lack of access to feminine hygiene products. This issue exists in many nations but is prominent in America. The Alliance for Period Supplies estimated that around one in every four menstruating individuals can't afford period products in America. Taking a look at this issue from a statistical perspective, the average cost of menstrual products per cycle is around $20. The National Organization for Women estimated that women are forced to spend around $18,000 on menstrual products throughout their lifetime. Those who find themselves struggling to afford period products often resort to using unconventional materials such as toilet paper or tissue paper. This can lead to dangerous infections and irritation. By understanding the importance of menstrual hygiene, we can build a society that ensures access to necessary resources. Our drives are dedicated to providing impoverished women with menstrual products. We hope to encourage menstrual equity and see an end to individuals being hindered by their biological circumstances.

Participate in our drives

Our drives are unique and designed to create the most convenient experience for donors. For each drive, we target a different neighborhood, leaving recyclable bags at front doors along with flyers that ask for the donation of feminine hygiene products and provide information about our cause. Usually after a 2-4 day waiting period, we return to the neighborhood and collect the bags. Finally, we gather all the donations and mail them to national organizations dedicated to evenly distributing period products among those who require them.

Shop through Depop to donate

Along with our drives, we also have a Depop dedicated towards raising money for those struggling with period poverty. On our Depop, we sell old clothing and donate the profit. To support us, you can buy clothing from our Depop.

“Nobody should ever be forced to put their health in jeopardy or suffer embarrassment or stigmas because they are unable to pay for menstrual products.”
